Maria Osorio Driscoll
I am a full time painter and mama of two boys living in Roanoke, Va. In this beautiful mountain town surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains, there is never a shortage of inspiration. I paint both figurative and abstract subjects, always using my fearless love of color and movement. My work mainly focuses on the process as well as the joy and excitement of translating the way I experience the world into art.
I have little recollection of my life without painting. From my earliest memories, I was lured by a desire to create. Fortunately, I had parents who always encouraged me in my artistic pursuits, from modeling clay, to traditional oil painting, to Chinese watercolor classes. I was always eager to learn and create, even when it meant my mom's rugs were covered in different shades of ink and my time outs involved having brushes and scissors taken away!
I grew up in Bogota, Colombia, a country with an enormous wealth of color, nature and culture. There I studied Art and Industrial Design at Universidad de los Andes. After moving to Roanoke, VA, I completed my art degree at Hollins University in 2003 and have been painting professionally since then. I am so lucky I get to do what I love!
You can usually find me painting in my studio with my German Shorthair Pointer at my feet, climbing ladders and scaffolding to complete large mural and decorative painting commissions and chasing my two boys around!
Thanks for stopping by and follow me to see what I paint next!
I have wonderful private clients and have also been privileged to work with Carilion Health Systems, Backcountry Outfitters, Roanoke Valley SPCA, Circle Design Studio, Studio !6, Carlos Restaurant, Centra Health, Robertson Marketing and numerous others.
